Humpular is the the longest trail in the city of Pittsburgh and the Crown Jewel of the slag trail network. This 3-mile-long flowy and feature laden trail surfs the steep hillside along the Mon river. Humpular is an intermediate trail with many advanced features. It's a one direction trail with many blind corners so don't go the wrong direction.
Redemption Center offers a variety of features; jumps, gaps, berms, tabletops, wooden drops and a unique feature made from an old asphalt roller. The current loop is 1 mile in length and it connects to Blastphemy which adds another half mile. To access Blastphemy, turn left where Redemption Center crosses the driveway at the bottom of the hill.
Blastphemy is the newest trail in the slag trail network and features Pittsburgh's largest drops. The trail is currently only 3/10 of a mile long but the plans are to expand the trail to become around 2 miles. Blastphemy features a skinny, three wooden drops (3', 5' and 8') and a fun wooden bank gap jump. Scroll down for more details of future phases.
High Traverse doesn't look like any other trail in Pittsburgh. The open hillside is dotted with pine trees that make you feel like you're in the Alps. The trail surfs the hillside below the Summerset neighborhood. It can be ridden in both directions but it's more fun to start close to the Parkway and travel towards the river.
IHop is a one way flowy trail that is a continuation of High Traverse. The trail begins where High Traverse crosses the grassy climb trail to Summerset and climbs to the high spot which is just below your favorite breakfast restaurant, IHop. IHop is popular because the downhill section is so freaking fun. IHop has one of the longest downhills in the slags.
Refractory is currently closed while the parkway bridge is rebuilt. It's a skinny trail that navigates across some really nasty old waste material. The trail is fairly level but demands your attention because there's no room for error. The trail is littered with debris from the mills. It's fairly common to find big chunks of slag and old fire bricks scattered on the trail.

The first two phases of Blastphemy were opened in May 2025. Eventually, the trail will be a two-mile loop. All of the trails are built by hand so a two-mile loop may take a few years to complete. The terrain lends itself to constructing the loop in several smaller loops or phases. The current plan is to build the loop in five phases (details around phases below). All phases will take advantage of the natural terrain and will include advanced features. The largest cliff drops are coming in phase 4 and may be up to 15' tall. Keep in mind that Blastphemy already has some of the tallest drops in Western PA at 5' & 8'.
